Make sure the phone is completely stationary — a tripod or solid mount is essential, since the detector compares each frame against a background model. Line the gate up with the red centerline, and make sure your quad passes through the middle of the frame with reasonable contrast against the background. Busy backgrounds with lots of movement (spectators, waving branches, flags) can confuse detection, so aim the camera at the calmest view of the gate you can.

Phantom laps usually come from other motion crossing the centerline — people walking through the frame, shadows, or another pilot's quad. Reposition the phone so only your race line crosses the center of the frame. Fast lighting changes (clouds passing over) can also trigger detections until the background model settles, which takes a few seconds.

The camera detects lap crossings — that's the core of the app. The microphone is only used when you record your screen during a race or capture a ghost run with audio. Photo library access lets you attach a photo to a drone in your fleet. Nothing is uploaded anywhere; see the privacy policy for details.

Premium unlocks ghost recording and racing, advanced analytics, and full drone specs. It's a subscription billed through your Apple account on iPhone or your Google account on Android. If you've reinstalled the app or switched phones, use Restore Purchases in the app's settings. Subscriptions don't transfer between platforms — a Premium purchase made through the App Store won't carry over to an Android phone, or vice versa.

Subscriptions are managed entirely by the store you bought them through. On iPhone: open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and select FPV Lap Timer. On Android: open the Google Play app, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals immediately. For refunds, use Apple's Report a Problem page (reportaproblem.apple.com) or Google Play's order history, since the stores handle all billing.

FPV Lap Timer is designed for phones — iPhone and Android. Lap detection relies on the camera's real-time frame processing, so it needs a physical device — there's nothing to see in a simulator or emulator.

Everything — sessions, laps, ghosts, fleet, photos, recordings — is stored locally on your phone. Deleting the app deletes the data, so back up anything you care about first (recordings saved to your photo library stay in your photo library).
