How blackbox data becomes flight audio.
Your flight controller logs what the motors and gyro were doing hundreds of times a second. Audio Studio decodes that data and uses it to perform a real motor recording, moment by moment.

Motor outputs set the pitch
Your logged motor[0–3] values are averaged and scaled to the log's own range, then used to re-pitch a real mid-throttle motor recording — idle hums, punch-outs scream.

Throttle shapes the tone
A throttle-linked EQ muffles the low end of the flight and brightens the top, so hover, cruise and full send each have their own character.

Gyro data adds the bite
Sharp changes in gyro rotation rate — flips, rolls, snaps and stops — trigger short accents, so your tricks are audible, not just visible.

Can I generate FPV motor sounds from blackbox data?
Yes. Audio Studio reads the motor outputs and gyro rates recorded in your Betaflight blackbox log and uses them to drive a real motor recording, producing a WAV file that rises and falls with your throttle and reacts to your maneuvers.
Which blackbox log files are supported?
Betaflight blackbox logs in .bbl or .bfl format, straight from onboard flash or an SD card, up to 10 MB. Firmwares that use the same log format generally work too. Logs from firmwares with a different format, such as INAV, may not decode.
Can I get my blackbox log without Betaflight Configurator?
Yes. In Chrome or Edge on a computer, plug your quad in over USB and choose Connect flight controller. Audio Studio switches it into USB mass storage mode so it shows up as a drive, and you pick the BTFL_00x.BBL file for the flight you want straight from it. Unplug the quad when you're done and it boots back up normally.
Does it use gyro data or just throttle?
Both. Motor output controls pitch, loudness and tone, while the gyro's rotation rate drives short accents on flips, rolls and sudden stops. You can turn the gyro accents up or down with the Maneuver accents slider.
Is this the actual sound of my drone?
It's a real motor recording, re-pitched and shaped by your flight data — so it follows exactly how you flew, but it isn't a recording of your specific motors and props. The Tiny whoop, Toothpick & cinewhoop and Freestyle presets tune the pitch range to suit different sizes of quad.
How do I sync the generated audio with my DVR or GoPro footage?
Drop the WAV into your video editor under the footage and slide it until a clear moment lines up — the first punch-out after arming or a hard throttle chop works well. Betaflight usually starts logging at arm, so the audio begins at the moment you armed.
My log is bigger than 10 MB. What can I do?
A single flash dump often holds several flights. Download just the flight you want, erase the flash before your session so each log is short, or lower the blackbox logging rate — 500 Hz to 1 kHz is plenty for generating audio.
What happens to my log file?
Your log is uploaded only so it can be decoded, then deleted as soon as decoding finishes — it isn't stored, shared, or used for anything else. The audio itself is generated in your browser.
